artist guido cacciapuoti born in naples on august 11, 1892, he descended from a renowned family of majolica artists, from whom he learned the art of ceramics at a young age. A sculptor and modeler of remarkable skill, he distinguished himself for his refined works depicting animals. He moved with his brother mario to treviso, where he worked at the “gregori” factory and successfully exhibited at the 1915 treviso art exhibition. He also occasionally collaborated with the “lazzar & marcon” company in treviso. In 1920, he participated in the 12th venice biennale, and the following year he exhibited at the treviso regional art exhibition. His works attracted the attention of distinguished figures such as the king of italy, mussolini, starace, and prince george of england. In 1927, together with his brother mario and with angelo bignami serving as administrative and commercial director, he founded the “gres d’arte cacciapuoti bignami & c.” workshop in milan, at 34 viale premuda. After his brother’s untimely death in 1930, guido took full charge of the company. The factory enjoyed immediate success, thanks to its animal sculptures of striking realism. Guido cacciapuoti died in 1953.
