Italy, 1930s/1940s origin italy period 1930s/1940s author guido cacciapuoti born in naples on 11 august 1892, he descends from a renowned family of majolica makers, from whom he learned the art of ceramics from a young age. A sculptor and modeller of notable skill, he stands out for his refined works featuring animal subjects. He moved with his brother mario to treviso, where he worked at the 'gregori' factory, exhibiting successfully at the treviso art exhibition of 1915. He also occasionally collaborated with the 'lazzar & marcon' firm of treviso. In 1920 he participated in the xii venice biennale and the following year he was present at the regional art exhibition of treviso. His works attracted the attention of illustrious figures such as the king of italy, mussolini, starace and prince george of england. In 1927, together with his brother mario and with angelo bignami as administrative and commercial director, he founded the 'gres d’arte cacciapuoti bignami & c.' factory in milan, at viale premuda 34. After the premature death of his brother in 1930, guido took over full management. The factory immediately achieved great success, thanks to his strikingly realistic animal sculptures. Guido cacciapuoti died in 1953.
