It is … Read more This artwork titled "O-5" 1983 is an oil painting on canvas by minimalist Austrian artist Manfred Bockelmann, b.1943. It is signed, titled and dated 1983 in the back.
The canvas size is 50 x 46 inches, subject is 28 x 29.5 inches. it is in very good condition, it has minor soiling and the white part of the canvas around the subject is slightly discolored.

About the artist:

Manfred Bockelmann is a contemporary Austrian painter, illustrator, and photographer. Working in a hyper-realistic drawing style, he captures intensely minute observations of cityscapes and people, as exemplified in his series of drawings of the New York skyline. In another notable series, he creates detailed depictions of crowds drawn from an aerial perspective that lends a sense of voyeurism to his work. Born on July 1, 1943 in Klagenfurt, Austria, he studied fresco painting, graphics, and photography and initially had a successful career as a commercial photographer for major magazines in Munich. In 1971, he published the popular book 100 Rainy Days, leading to numerous subsequent book illustration commissions. His drawn portraits of child prisoners was the subject of a major solo exhibition in 2013 at the Leopold Museum in the city of Vienna, Austria, where he lives and works. See less
