Good condition for its age and use
Dimensions: 22 x 28 x 28 cm
An exceptional Corinthian capital with smooth leaves in granite, foregoing the intricate carving of the classical acanthus in favor of a much more geometric, clean, and stylized finish. Its design is inspired by late Roman architecture and, especially, the Caliphate period of al-Andalus, where capitals were sculpted in this way to expedite the construction of large palatial complexes. It is decorated with two superimposed crowns of smooth, flat leaves, whose tips curve outwards, reminiscent of the classical acanthus but in a geometric form. It stands out for its formal simplicity and the sobriety of its lines. Perfect for decorating any space, both indoors and outdoors, atop a column to gain prominence or as part of a composition on a shelf.
