George iv was 48 when he became regent in 1811, as a result of the illness of his father, george iii. He succeeded to the throne in january 1820. He had secretly and illegally married a roman catholic, mrs fitzherbert, in 1785. The large oil paintings are in good condition they are 48” tall, 38” wide, the frame are 4.4” wide See less
