it states: “in the work ‘couple at the table’ (1965), the composition is symmetrically structured and the motif reduced to stylized cubic forms. Between the figures is the table, on which stands a flatly rendered black vase containing a flower. The center of the image is emphasized by a circular flower, its right half painted violet. Some of the cubes' faces are highlighted by hatching and color, creating a spatial effect in conjunction with the white, unmarked areas. The interior space is marked by two thin black vanishing lines.” (p. 151)
