The piece is signed and dated 1961 in the lower left corner. This is a large, stately painting finished in an ornate gesso frame, commanding a special place above a large fireplace mantle, dining room or in a foyer entry of an equestrian-inspired home.

Sweet Solera was an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred owned by Mrs. Magnus Castello. The filly won six races, including the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and Oaks at Epsom. Sweet Solera was a Timeform top-rated European three-year-old filly.

Juliet McLeod was an equestrian painter, illustrator and writer that attended L’École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, studying alongside renowned equestrian painter Lynwood Palmer.
