This unique terracotta sculpture, created by Ricardo Mesa in the 1980s, comprises two separate ceramic pieces: a voluminous and stylized female figure, belonging to the celebrated "Gordita Feliz" (Happy Chubby) series, and a large, open human hand that serves as a base. Both pieces bear the artist's incised signature, guaranteeing their authenticity and their conception as a single work. The piece is modeled in naturally reddish-hued fired clay with a matte finish and subtle chromatic variations resulting from the firing process and the inherent nature of the material. This piece represents one of the most original creations within Ricardo Mesa's already fascinating "Gordita Feliz" series, standing out for its exploration of volume, the balance of forms, and spatial interaction. The two separate components allow for subtle variations in the figure's placement on the palm of the hand. The sculpture is in excellent condition, retaining its original surface and an authentic patina without any restoration. Due to its sculptural nature and material presence, it is ideal for incorporation into high-end residential interior design projects, providing a focal point in libraries, living rooms, or contemporary design studios.
