The first plate, titled "Glaskunstindustrie I," presents an international survey of historic glass objects. Featured examples include Phoenician-Assyrian glass, Roman vessels, Venetian millefiori glass, Venetian network glass, Egyptian mosque lamps, Persian bowls, German enamelled glass, Chinese vases, and other notable forms. Together they demonstrate the technical sophistication and artistic diversity achieved by glassmakers across many centuries and cultures. The second plate, "Glaskunstindustrie III," focuses on contemporary decorative glass at the height of the Art Nouveau movement. Illustrated are works by some of the most influential designers and manufacturers of the late nineteenth century, including Louis Comfort Tiffany of New York, Émile Gallé of Nancy, Daum of Nancy, Karl Köpping of Berlin, Peter Behrens of Darmstadt, and Val Saint Lambert of Belgium. The designs showcase flowing organic forms, iridescent surfaces, floral motifs, and innovative artistic techniques that helped define the decorative arts of the fin de siècle. Beyond their educational value, these plates are visually striking works of art. The subtle colors, elegant vessel forms, and detailed rendering of the glass surfaces create highly decorative compositions that appeal to collectors of Art Nouveau, decorative arts, design history, and antique prints. Displayed together, they provide a fascinating overview of both the ancient origins and modern evolution of artistic glassmaking. This set consists of original 1898 chromolithographs and is not a modern reproduction. Any images showing the prints framed are for visual inspiration only. The prints are supplied unframed. Condition: Good antique condition with age-related toning and minor handling wear. Original center folds as issued. Colors remain bright and attractive. Please review the images carefully. Framing tips: These prints display beautifully as a matching pair in dark walnut, museum-black, or ebonized frames with wide ivory mats. A thin gilt liner can further enhance the rich colors and elegant decorative character of the artwork.
