This powerful work depicts two entwined bodies in a deliberately minimalist composition where movement and emotion take precedence over anatomical detail. The figures appear to merge in a play of black lines and electric blue contours that traverse the entire surface of the canvas.

The paint is applied generously, in broad, visible impasto, giving the work a remarkable physical presence. The contrast between the flesh, rendered in gray and beige, and the intense red background reinforces the dramatic tension of the scene.

Created in the late 1980s, this painting belongs to the European Expressionist Figuration movement, at the crossroads of German Neo-Expressionism and Free Figuration.

Signed and dated lower right.
