The deep browns reflecting a beautiful natural landscape. It is a vintage oil painting depicting a serene woodland scene with a winding river, a waterfall and dense evergreen and deciduous trees, all set against a tranquil sky. The scene evokes a peaceful natural environment, representing an autumn or late summer setting. Because Mamie Sherlock (M. Lock) was a regional mid-century artist rather than a commercially mass-produced illustrator, her catalog primarily survives through individual original oil pieces documented on collector platforms. If you look at the back of the artwork, you will frequently find that she painted directly onto masonite board rather than tightly stretched fabric canvas, which was highly popular among regional American hobbyists and professional artists in the 1960s. This large original painting measures 39 1/2” long by 28 1/4” tall and is in great condition. There are a couple of small scratches on the frame. See less
