A substantial oval covered tureen and matching serving platter, made by the raynaud factory in limoges, france, circa 1970.
this white porcelain set features a particularly refined decoration of applied flowers in relief and polychrome foliage highlighted with gold. The side handles, treated to imitate natural branches, are adorned with small flowers and delicately modeled buds, while the lid is surmounted by a large floral bouquet in high relief.
the matching platter repeats the same decoration of roses and foliage arranged on the rim, highlighted by a wavy border and a gilt band. The porcelain displays a subtle textured relief decoration reminiscent of braiding, characteristic of some of raynaud's prestigious decorative pieces.
with its abundant three-dimensional floral decoration, this piece belongs to the tradition of french romantic porcelain of the second half of the 20th century, with rococo and louis xv influences. Its execution also evokes the grand decorative pieces of capodimonte in italy.
