Large pastel of a river landscape with figures in a mountain setting.
This pastel looks like it came straight out of a fantasy film, with tiny figures against a backdrop of all-powerful and beautiful nature. It is signed in the lower left corner and dated 1869.
The modern style of this pastel for its time might, perhaps, benefit from a more contemporary frame.
