Petrus Antonius Hermanus Brouwer

Born August 1, 1935 in Utrecht, passed away in 2010.

Peter lived and worked in Utrecht.

Education: Evening academy and pupil of John Bevort, Laurens Tuinman, Cor van Diggelen, Henk Bellaard, and Uncle P. Brouwer, teacher at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam. Peter was a painter of direct colors; he made many study trips through Italy and Spain, where these colors are abundantly visible.

He had exhibitions in New York and Germany, among other places.

Although Peter Brouwer had been in close contact with J. Bévort for years, he nevertheless had a completely different view of the craft. After all, his colors are more direct and bolder, harsher and brighter. His subjects are also different, varying in color, and often experimental. Brouwer worked more abstractly and, through these abstract paintings, arrived at a completely unique interpretation of the known. Naturally, we find many points of similarity with Bévort, but the atmosphere is different and his canvases live for themselves. In doing so, he has carved out a place entirely his own.
