A rare and collectible pair of reproduction prints by James Montgomery Flagg — the celebrated American illustrator best known for the iconic "I Want You" Uncle Sam poster. Published by Harper & Brothers in 1907, these two works capture Flagg's masterful pen-and-ink draftsmanship at its most confident.
"Science" depicts a dramatic boxing match rendered with the fluid energy and crowd electricity that made Flagg a defining voice of the American illustrated press. "Politics — This Large and Intelligent Audience" offers a wry, quintessentially American scene of a nearly empty political hall — a lone bowler-hatted figure holding court for no one. Sharp, sardonic, and beautifully drawn.
