Primitive Wooden Well Bucket with Hand-Forged Central-Loop Iron Handle
Description:
Up for sale is a beautiful, primitive wooden well bucket. This stunning piece of rustic Americana features traditional wood-stave construction, tightly bound together by three wide, iron friction-fit bands.
What sets this particular bucket apart is its unique, heavy-gauge iron bail handle, which features a distinct central raised loop or "eye." This specialized design was traditionally used to secure the bucket to a rope, hook, or well-crank system to ensure it remained perfectly balanced when drawing water. The handle is mounted directly through two raised "ear" staves integrated into the rim for maximum durability.
The wood boasts a rich, dark, seasoned patina with fantastic age-appropriate wear and character. Perfect as a standalone statement piece, a rustic hearth planter, or for holding kindling next to a fireplace.
Condition:
Very good condition. The bucket is structurally sound with all staves and iron hoops firmly in place. There are normal scuffs, nicks, and minor separations in the wood grain expected with a piece of this age, only adding to its historic charm.
Please see pictures for a detailed look at the condition and craftsmanship.
