The monumental form of the stone is imposing and dramatic measuring over 5 feet tall. The monolithic stone features natural water eroded contours, softened ridges, concave hollows, a weathered surface, and a prominent pierced opening near the top. The surface of the stone has a subtle added dark matte and granular finish with areas of toning and patination in shades of charcoal gray ranging to dark olive and brown tones. The large abstract form and organic silhouette create a strong presence, able to be presented as a strong focal point or imposing negative space. The stone rests on a custom-fitted dark rosewood toned hardwood pedestal stand with hand-carved floral and foliate ornamentation from a solid timber. The piece is naturally formed in the tradition of Gongshi, Chinese scholar's rocks, and specifically Lingbi stones, eroded limestone excavated in Lingbi County, Anhui Province, China, and one of China's four famous ornamental stones. Simultaneously, the organic biomorphic form and abstract silhouette make the piece suitable for a variety of Western or Eastern spaces. The stone itself measures approximately 36" wide, 20" deep, and 53" tall and weighs an impressive 500 pounds.
