An exceptional pair of late 19th-century Greek terracotta olive jars, dating to circa 1890. Their substantial scale, rounded silhouettes, and beautifully weathered surfaces give them a striking architectural presence.
Each handcrafted jar features traditional loop handles, horizontal incised detailing, and a richly aged patina in muted olive green, ochre, stone, and warm terracotta tones. More than a century of natural weathering has created layered variations in color and texture, giving each vessel its own distinctive character while allowing the pair to display beautifully together.
Originally made as utilitarian storage vessels, these antique Greek jars now serve as sculptural decorative objects for both interiors and covered outdoor spaces. Their generous proportions make them especially effective flanking an entryway, fireplace, console, garden path, terrace, or courtyard. They may also be displayed separately to introduce historic Greek character and organic texture throughout a home.
Sold as a pair.
