Earthenware pitcher produced in Vallauris, France, by the Jérôme Massier Fils factory under the direction of Alain Maunier (French, born … Read more Earthenware pitcher produced in Vallauris, France, by the Jérôme Massier Fils factory under the direction of Alain Maunier (French, born in 1936), who took over the family business in 1960 and ran it until its closure in 1990, using both his own signature and the inherited "Massier Vallauris" stamp—visible in relief on the base. The decoration is incised into the clay before firing: a frieze of hexagonal shapes alternating with circular motifs, framed by registers of teeth and crosshatching, is part of a geometric repertoire of Mediterranean inspiration present in Massier's production since the Universal Expositions of the late 19th century. The exterior glaze, blue-green with olive variations depending on the area, contrasts with the orange interior. This piece has an attribution mark,
