It comprises two separate elements, facilitating transport and installation. The basin boasts a beautiful gadrooned silhouette, shaped like a corolla or seashell, accentuated by delicately scalloped edges. Its generous depth accommodates both floral arrangements and more structured plantings.
The solid and balanced base rests on a double-ringed pedestal terminating in a square plinth, ensuring perfect stability while lending it a truly sculptural presence.
The entire piece is enhanced by a beautiful natural patina, shaped by time, where shades of gray and ochre mingle, along with subtle traces of moss and lichen, reinforcing its authenticity and the charm of antique garden pieces. This planter dates from the mid-20th century (circa 1950–1960) and is made of dense reconstituted stone, a robust material perfectly suited for outdoor use and resistant to weathering. An earlier restoration, visible on the inside of the rim, provides lasting reinforcement; it remains discreet and becomes visually invisible once the planter is filled with plants.
