This model was the first version of the chair designed by René Gabriel as part of the "furniture for disaster victims." Its slatted seat proved particularly arduous to manufacture in the context of the time's emergency, and it was quickly abandoned in favor of a slatted version, much simpler for the commissioned cabinetmakers to produce. This explains why these rare and elegant versions are so difficult to find today.
