Ariane Beigneux was born to French parents in Roxbury, CT in 1918 and passed in 2011. She studied art at the National Academy of Design with Gifford Beal, Sidney Dickinson and Ivan Olinsky and at the Art Students League in New York with Jon Corbino and Jean Liberte. Ariane painted professional artist childrens portraits for six decades. Her work was included in the book 6 Artists Paint a Portrait: Alfred Chadbourn, George Passantino, Charles Reid, Ariane Beigneux, Robert Baxter, Ann Toulmin-Rothe Beigneux is best known for her portraits of children which began with her first job at a commercial art studio in New York. One of her major assignments was a series of calendar paintings of children for a large insurance company. She also painted many magazine covers, Collier's and Ladies Home Journal being two of them. She specialized in child portraits at the famous studio Portraits inc. and traveled to clients for sittings all over the United States. Some of her clients included the Rockefeller's, Weickers, Pillsbury's and Doubledays. See less
