Original one-of-a-kind art piece. Signed by artist Barbara Michener of Boise, Idaho. Barbara's work is celebrated by its inclusion in the Encaustic Art Institute's permanent collection in Cerrillos, NM.
Encaustic art or hot wax painting is an ancient painting technique that uses a heated wax medium mixed with colored pigments to create durable, luminous artworks. It is extremely archival as resin and beeswax are impervious to moisture, so it won't yellow or darken with age once fully cured over 1-3 years and naturally repels dust.
Care tips:
Can withstand temperatures up to 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not store in freezing temperatures.
Do not hang in a direct sunlight window or leave in a hot car.
Do not hang in high-humidity areas such as bathrooms.
Keep in cool, dry places with stable temperatures.
Buff the surface gently every 3-6 months with a soft cloth.
Hang in well-lit areas of indirect light to enjoy the color layers and the wax's glow.
