This grand, cast iron planter is modeled after traditional Qing-dynasty vessels used for collecting rain water in case of fire. Set on tripod legs and flanked with dramatic ring handles, the large iron pot is decorated in low relief with scenes of young boys accompanied by mythical animals, including a qilin, oxen, tiger, dragon and rabbit. Accented with scrollwork and the raw texture of metal, the iron basin is fantastic as a planter for indoor trees or garden arrangements.
Drilled with drainage hole.
