This fine antique George III Sheraton chest of drawers dates to the early 19th century and is a wonderful example of the elegant, restrained design that defined the Sheraton period. Moving away from the heavier forms of earlier Georgian furniture, Sheraton designs emphasized clean lines, graceful proportions, and the natural beauty of finely selected woods. With its classic form and warm aged surface, this chest offers the perfect combination of historic craftsmanship and practical storage for today’s home.
The chest is crafted from beautiful flame mahogany with striking grain patterns across the drawer fronts and case. The traditional two-over-three drawer configuration is accented by brass hardware, reeded side columns, and delicately turned legs, all hallmarks of the refined Federal and Sheraton aesthetic of the early 1800s. The rich mahogany color, elegant proportions, and aged patina give the piece a wonderful presence while showcasing the quality of cabinetmaking from this period.
The chest is in nice antique condition with wear consistent with age and normal use. The mahogany retains a beautiful aged finish with minor marks, finish variations, small areas of veneer loss, and other imperfections expected from a piece that has been enjoyed for over two centuries. These details add to its character and authenticity while preserving the history of the piece. A classic George III Sheraton chest offering exceptional craftsmanship, timeless design, and very usable storage. 42h x 43w x 21d
