Design origins in 19th-century european historicism. The form draws on design principles of european historicism—specifically, the jardinière tradition of the late 19th century, as it was prevalent in french and central european interiors. Openwork gallery rims, relief medallions, and paw feet are characteristic elements of this style. The handcrafted aging process is based on the effect of genuine patina without copying a historical model. The set is suitable for console tables, mantelpieces, dining tables, or windowsills—anywhere a planter with a distinctive design is desired. Both bowls can be used together or separately. The patina complements dark woods, marble, and light wall colors equally well.
