Just an incredible, turquoise-washed 19th century wedding dowery chest from Afghanistan. This one is in the Nuristan style- the Northern region of Afghanistan where nomadic people reside. It’s is heavily carved on the face in beautiful patterns! The hardware is heavy and attractive. There are some dings and chips throughout, but this was a utilitarian piece that would have been hauled from camp to camp. So, wear is not only expected, but it tells the story of a nomadic lifestyle. This is why I love antiques!
Measures about 23” at tabletop & 27” tall at corners. 33.75” wide, 19.5” deep. If you were to use this to store something, the inside compartment measurements are 32”wide, 18” deep, 14” tall.
