Executed in blue faience ceramic, the work combines collectible contemporary design with architectural wall art through its immersive surface and striking scale. Measuring 110 cm (43.3 in) in diameter with a depth of 12 cm (4.7 in), the sculpture features a finely modelled relief intended to evoke the movement and topography of waves within the Détroit de Gibraltar (Strait of Gibraltar). The rich blue glaze was developed to correspond with the distinctive colour of the sea in that region, reflecting Lehanneur's wider practice of transforming environmental information and scientific observation into physical objects.
