A decorative, highly original wall-mounted coat rack from the early 20th century, crafted from dark-stained wood and curved metal hooks. The centerpiece of the design is a striking cast mask depicting a bearded man in the Green Man/Mascaron style, characteristic of Art Nouveau and Historicism at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The design combines functionality with decorative appeal—the numerous hooks allowed for hanging hats, coats, canes, or accessories, and the piece as a whole serves as an attractive element of interior design in Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts, eclectic, or rustic styles.
Handcrafted wooden elements and uniquely shaped metal hooks give the piece a distinctive character. The preserved original patina underscores its authenticity and age.
Condition:
structure stable and complete,
all hooks preserved,
natural signs of use and age,
minor chipping on the upper end of the central wooden element (visible in the photos),
no significant structural damage.
Material: wood, cast and bent metal
Period: ca. 1900–1930
Style: Art Nouveau / Historicism
Origin: Europe
A highly decorative piece, rarely found on the antique market. Excellent both as a functional coat rack and as an extraordinary wall decoration.
