Superb French Art Deco sideboard, dating from around 1925–1930, signed by the creator C. Guillon and by the Coolfontaine manufacture in France.
This exceptional piece perfectly illustrates the refined elegance and geometric lines of the Art Deco movement, with a very architectural design and beautifully curved sides typical of the period.
The sideboard features a symmetrical front framed by rounded ends that soften the silhouette and give it a sculptural presence.
It is topped with a beautiful natural marble top whose warm veining harmonises with the dense, luminous wood veneer.
The construction is of high quality, with precise joinery, generous wood thickness and meticulous attention to detail.
The piece has been entirely restored and French‑polished with shellac in my own workshop in Brussels, bringing back a deep, glossy patina that highlights the grain of the wood.
Inside, the storage is well organised: curved side doors each fitted with shelves, and a central door opening onto a large compartment, ideal for tableware, glassware or linens.
The sideboard is equipped with working locks and keys for practical, everyday use.
It rests on a continuous aluminium base that runs around the bottom of the cabinet, visually lightening the whole and underlining its resolutely modern character for the time.
The structure is non‑dismountable, ensuring excellent solidity and stability. The piece is structurally sound and ready for intensive daily use, whether as a buffet in a dining room or as a statement piece in an entrance hall or living room.
A true example of French heritage from the Roaring Twenties, this signed Art Deco sideboard is both a collector’s item and a highly functional piece of furniture, ideal to complete a period dining room or to bring a touch of understated luxury to a contemporary interior.
Fully restored and French‑polished with shellac in my Brussels workshop, it is in perfect condition and ready to be enjoyed. This piece has an attribution mark,
I am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity
