This remarkable piece features a vibrant turquoise glazed ground adorned with exquisite raised decoration depicting magnolia blossoms, flowering branches, exotic birds and luxuriant foliage. The sculptural relief work is enhanced by delicate hand-painted details and gilded highlights, creating a striking visual presence from every angle.
Its aesthetic reflects the fascination with Japanese art that swept through Europe during the second half of the nineteenth century. The design recalls the celebrated creations of Théodore Deck, Jules Vieillard and certain productions associated with the Longwy workshops.
