Original Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print by Keisai Eisen (1790–1848), an artist specializing in bijin-ga (images of beautiful women). He studied with several masters, including Kikugawa Eizan, and developed a distinctive style that combined elegance with a more realistic, and sometimes sensual, portrayal of women. Keisai Eisen's works are valued for their refined linework, rich color palette, and ability to capture both the elegance and humanity of his subjects. His prints are held in major museum collections worldwide, including the Tokyo National Museum, the British Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He also used the pseudonym Ikeda Eisen.
