Constructed from layered bent plywood throughout, finished in warm oak tone. The design comprises multiple parallel arches stacked vertically, each incrementally taller towards the centre, creating a triangular A-frame silhouette when viewed in profile. The arches are formed by bending plywood sheets and stacking them to create depth and spacing. The base consists of the curved feet of the outermost arch layers, permitting the piece to stand freely. No visible metal hardware or joinery - the structure relies entirely on the plywood construction and stacking geometry.
The storage slots between the curved layers accommodate magazines, vinyl records, newspapers, or large books in an upright position. The repetitive curved forms create a distinctly sculptural effect, with strong visual rhythm from the parallel arches. The design reflects the functional modernism characteristic of Habitat's production in the late 1970s and early 1980s: practical everyday storage elevated through clear geometric form and architectural styling.
The oak-finished plywood surfaces display warm honey toning throughout. The curved edges and layers retain definition with no visible warping or separation. The finish shows even patina across all visible surfaces. The structure is stable with no flex or I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
