A beautifully composed pair of two-arm wall sconces in the finest tradition of Parisian decorative arts, attributed to Maison Baguès, Paris. Each sconce features two sweeping arms in solid clear crystal, crossed in an elegant X formation and gathered at the center by a gilt brass collar set with a faceted crystal rosette — a detail entirely consistent with Baguès’ signature vocabulary of the postwar period. The backplate is a hand-cut, beveled mirror glass in an octagonal shield form, mounted on a hand-crafted solid wood backing of the same shape. The original fabric-braided wiring is preserved and confirms the period authenticity of these pieces, though rewiring to current electrical standards is recommended before use. Will be new wiring !
