An unusual and very elegant pendant lamp in the ph 3/2 model, designed by poul henningsen for louis poulsen in denmark – a timeless design classic that is still considered one of the most thoughtful lighting fixtures ever created.
the lamp is made of beautiful mouth-blown opal glass with a chrome suspension. The three shades are made of reflective opal glass in three layers, where the shiny outside meets a matte, sandblasted inside. The combination creates a soft, pleasant and warm light that spreads harmoniously in the room without dazzling.
the iconic three-shade system is the result of poul henningsen's close collaboration with louis poulsen during the 1920s. The first ph lamps were developed for the world exhibition in paris in 1925–1926 and quickly gained international attention for their innovative way of shaping and directing light. The design is based on the logarithmic spiral – a mathematical form that recurs in nature – which provides a perfectly balanced light distribution and exceptional lighting comfort.
