Elegant art nouveau silver service comprising six pieces: a coffee pot, a teapot, a cocoa or hot water pot, a cream jug, a sugar bowl and a tray. Vessels with an oval base and smooth, straight sides, each featuring a pair of fluted, flared vertical pilasters on the front and back, with relief bands featuring sculpted vine decoration, open straight at the top; coffee and teapots with smooth spouts angled upwards and hinged lids on the sides with smooth spherical knobs; sugar bowl with a slip-on lid; cocoa pot and cream jug with spouted lids remain open at the top; smooth handles with a round cross-section projecting at right angles, the hot drink pots featuring inlaid black wooden rings to interrupt heat transfer. Large silver tray with straight lengths facing each other and outwardly curved sides, in a smooth finish with a raised, horizontally flared rim featuring a continuous relief band with vine decoration, as on the vessels. Excellent work by the renowned viennese silversmith ludwig politzer. Trade licence granted in 1876, company existed until 1922 participation in various exhibitions in vienna, trieste, paris, diplomas and awards. this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
