Ian was born in Inverness, Scotland in 1964. He attended art college in Kent, England in the mid 1980’s. There he met fellow painter Claire Waltier. In the late 1980’s he returned along with Claire to Scotland to paint the Highland landscape. Ian and Claire married and started a family in the mid 1990’s and the family moved to Cheshire, England in 2000. From the early 1990’s Ian has regularly exhibited in London with the Rountree Tryon Gallery. He is also represented in Scotland by The Gallery at The House of Bruar.
Recent exhibitions.
2022 African Encounters' an exhibition featuring Ian's first collection of African Wildlife paintings at Patrick Mavros, London.
2022 'Deer People' an exhibition and book launch featuring twenty-four portraits opened at The Gallery, House of Bruar.
'Ancient Hills & Sea Air' opened at The Gallery, House of Bruar on 7th & 8th September 2024
