This contemporary African tapestry operates as a high-concept architectural landscape, where the craftsman has utilized a sophisticated patchwork technique to construct a stylized, geometric totem. The composition is built from an intentional juxtaposition of varying textile weights, featuring shimmering charmeuse silk elements and dense, ribbed cotton panels. These materials create a dramatic high-and-low textural quality, allowing the abstract, pillar-like forms in the foreground to recede and advance based on the light’s interaction with the weave. Close-up images reveal the meticulous execution, showing fine green and terracotta chain-stitch detailing that crisply locks the segmented fields in place.
