A genuinely special piece of British history — this is a 1930s-era Simplex copper kettle made in England, featuring the rare integrated spirit burner base with pierced ventilation ring. Unlike the more common Simplex gas coil kettles, this earlier design was built for tableside use: the base holds methylated spirit fuel and was lit to keep water hot directly in the parlor, so guests could be served without returning to the kitchen. A beautiful artifact of early 20th century British domestic life and entertaining.
The bottom stamp confirms authenticity — patent numbers 400739 & 402190 and Reg. No. 786743, dating manufacture to post-1933. The copper body has developed a stunning iridescent patina with warm amber and rose gold tones throughout. Whistle ball intact in spout — a signature feature of the Simplex patent design.
