Discover the captivating abstract world of Bolivian-Brazilian artist Mario Cespedes (1942-2007) with this dual original mixed media piece from 1987. Signed in the lower left, it evokes surreal dreamscapes through layered acrylics, watercolors, and textured elements on paper. Vibrant blues, oranges, and whites swirl in an abstract composition featuring geometric forms, and enigmatic symbols, blending Latin American influences with modern abstraction.
Direct from The Cespedes Collection—Cespedes' own North Hollywood gallery (label on back confirms authenticity, plus included bio/resume docs highlighting his international exhibitions in Paris, Brazil, and beyond). Professionally framed in white with double matting, ready to hang (overall approx. 16x12"; art 10x7"). Mint vintage condition—no fading, tears, or damage; minor frame wear.
A rare find for collectors of mid-century Latin art.
About the Artist:
Born in Bolivia, Mario Cespedes immigrated to Sao Paolo, Brazil at the age of 14. A self-taught artist, Cespedes acquired his early knowledge of art by visiting museums and learning from other artisans in the city’s public markets as a teenager. Much of his work was inspired by the Andes and Amazon River in South America and frequently comments on pollution and deforestation. Mario Cespedes is a member of the Paris International Association of Plastic Arts, partnered with UNESCO, and has exhibited widely and with success throughout South and North America including at the San Bernardino County Museum (1980), the Brazilian National Biennial (1974) as well as in Germany (1992) and France (1970, 1977).
