Vintagely Impress with this antique tramp art open étagère, featuring notch-carved pyramid trim applied throughout as framing around the case openings, edges, and legs, finished in what appears to be its original green paint.
The case is likely constructed from a repurposed wooden crate or box, with the notch-carved tramp art trim added as decorative framing — a classic "make do" folk art approach. The design includes a divided cubby section at top (three compartments) over two open display shelves below, raised on short legs.
Tramp art is a folk art tradition built from notch-carved wood, often applied as layered framing around boxes, cabinets, and case furniture — popular from the 1870s through early 1900s. Larger functional furniture pieces like this are less commonly found than small boxes and frames. The round wire nail heads visible in construction are consistent with circa 1890s-early 1900s manufacture, as wire nails became standard in crate and furniture construction during this period.
The green paint appears original — it follows into the carved notches and crevices rather than sitting over a separate surface, with wear concentrated at edges and high-contact points consistent with natural aging. Surface wear, paint loss, and minor separation at one back panel seam are visible in photos and are consistent with age and use.
