Gorgeous set of four Andover armchairs designed by Davis Allen and manufactured in Italy by Stendig. Davis Allen was the longtime Senior Interior Designer at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), and the Andover chair is among his most celebrated furniture designs — a graceful, barrel-backed armchair with clean postmodern lines that reads equally well in a dining room, home office, or living space.
Frames are solid beech with a warm natural finish. Two chairs retain their original blue mohair-blend upholstery in good vintage condition; two are in a tan/caramel fabric showing heavier wear than the blue. All four frames are structurally sound with no wobble. Original Stendig labels intact on undersides (410 East 62nd St., New York).
