Wonderful little working Canvasback duck decoy. Originating from southeast Michigan, the underside of this decoy features its original, crisp stencil reading "JOS. PELON / RIVER ROUGE" Featuring a classic wide, stable Michigan body style built to ride out choppy waters, it displays its original worn paint scheme with a deep reddish-brown head, distinctive sloping gray bill ) and a distressed black-and-white body. A premium, localized piece of American folk art salvage.
Authentic antique working condition. The body shows gorgeous, honest hunting wear, including surface rubs, paint flaking, wood grain checking, and character marks from actual field use. The head remains attached and pivots slightly, and the stamped lettering on the flat bottom is legible.
