"dolly" is not a simple sconce, but an avant-garde luminous sculpture capturing a moment of absolute poetic suspension, where light ceases to be an abstract element and becomes a physical gift, cherished and supported with extreme grace. The profound inspiration for this art design piece stems from an evocative, melancholic vision: ballerina shoes hanging on a wall at the end of a dance, frozen in an atmosphere of anticipation and weightlessness. Italian artist and designer dario nasuti, drawing from over 30 years of mastery in anatomical modeling and haute couture draping, translates this exact emotional tension into a plastic, highly theatrical gesture. The artwork stages a hand that, while holding the light source, gently escorts it to rest with infinite delicacy directly against the wall’s surface, building an intimate dialogue between the object, the light, and the surrounding architecture.

the metamorphosis of matter: the creative process
each individual piece is a one-of-a-kind, unrepeatable masterpiece, born from an entirely manual creative process executed in the artist’s studio in parma, italy:

anatomical integration & sculpting: a female mannequin's pvc hand is decontextualized and resculpted. Through a precise manual die-cutting of the base metal plate, the hand is inserted and tilted at an angle calculated to the millimeter to simulate a natural gesture of offering and protection, and then structurally fused to the metal. This crucial phase of organic merging is executed using professional metal putty, masterfully shaped and smoothed freehand by the artist.

the pictorial finish & glazed ceramic effect: once the structural core is consolidated, the entire surface undergoes a visual metamorphosis. Nasuti applies a multi-colored finish, free-flowing and dissolved by hand with turpentine. This complex pictorial technique triggers a literal surface vitrification, granting the pvc and metal an incredible glossy, vitreous, and reflective sheen that visually evokes glazed ceramics or molten glass, while preserving the rich, raw texture of the handcrafted execution.

lighting engineering & chromatic scenography
with a sharp nod to contemporary provocation and pop-surrealism, the artist intentionally disrupts chromatic monotony by introducing a vibrant green textile-covered electrical cord (ce-certified). This avant-garde detail is proudly highlighted rather than hidden: it enters a hole in the palm of the sculpture, flows sinuously through the fingers, and terminates at the lamp holder, which cradles a 4.5w warm-light led bulb. When illuminated, the bulb, resting directly against the wall, projects the dramatic, magnified shadows of the fingers onto the surrounding surface, instantly transforming the space into a theatrical stage.
