Built by wealthy brothers, Isaac & Émile Pereire, the hotel was inaugurated by Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III. The hotel has hosted several famous guests, including Tsar Nicholas, King Edward VII of England, Victor Hugo, Salvadore Dali, Yves Montad, and more.
