A vibrant original acrylic painting by acclaimed St Thomas artist Mary Catherine (Kathy) Carlson, titled "Jumby Playin" and dated 2010 in the artist's own hand on the verso.
This joyful, richly detailed work depicts the playful spirit world of authentic Virgin Islands Jumby folklore–dancing spirit figures move freely beneath a glowing moon surrounded by lush menagerie of animals including goats, a tabby cat, chicks, a dove, dragonfly, lizard, and a whimsical flying pig, all set against a breathtaking vibrant purple and rose sky filled with life and movement.
Purchased directly from Mango Tango Art Gallery, St. Thomas, USVI in 2010. Carlson was a formally trained artist who studied at the Art Students League in New York and exhibited throughout the Caribbean before relocating to California, where she passed away.
A rare opportunity to own a significant piece of authentic Caribbean art by a documented, deceased gallery artist with full provenance.
