Guerin & Co., dating to the late 19th/early 20th century. Each plate showcases a beautifully rendered central scene of winged cherubs (putti) at play among clouds — one depicting cherubs with Cupid’s bow and arrow amid scattered roses, the other a charming allegorical scene of a cherub sculptor at work on a classical figure while a companion looks on.

The plates feature deep cobalt blue borders with elaborate raised gilt decoration — one with ornate architectural-style gilt motifs, the other with a graceful gilt grapevine and leaf border. Both have scalloped, gently fluted rims and gilt-trimmed edges. The reverse carries the red Wm. Guerin & Co., Limoges, France backstamp, marked “Fabriqué pour” (made for) a Baltimore, Maryland retailer. See less
