Designed by Kaare Klint and produced by Le Klint in the 1940s, the "Kip-Lamp" lamps bear witness to one of the most recognizable periods of postwar Danish design. The black lacquered metal frame develops a continuous, light line, complemented by the brass sphere that breaks the composition with a discreet sculptural accent. The central stem also serves to direct the light. The pleated lampshades, made of hand-folded paper, a distinctive element of Le Klint production, diffuse a soft, even light and speak to the long Danish tradition of paper craftsmanship. The ensemble combines modernist rigor and a domestic sensibility in a design that has become iconic in the history of 20th-century Scandinavian lighting.
