The electroplating technique, for which Christofle acquired the patents in 1842, allowed them to distribute consistently high-quality silver plating to a bourgeois clientele who were uncompromising on table setting.

This complete fish service—twelve knives and twelve forks—illustrates the company's penchant for clean lines: tapered, flat, and smooth handles finished with a discreet, unadorned rim. The knives feature the characteristic spatula-shaped blade of a fish knife, while the forks have their four widely spaced tines. Each piece bears the Christofle hallmark—the framed chess knight—applied by the company between 1935 and 1983.

Original leather-lined case, lined with ivory satin embossed with the company name, and gilt brass clasps. A set similar in style to the products of Ercuis or Puiforcat, offering the same understated and elegant tableware.
