The structure is made of thin strips of fiber woven in a geometric crisscross pattern, with vertical reinforcements and visible natural fiber fastenings. It has a carved wooden base. This type of container was traditionally used in Indonesia for storing and transporting rice or other dry goods in rural households. Variations in color, irregularities in the weaving, and signs of use attest to the handcrafted nature of the piece. It can also be used as a decorative sculptural element.
