This Louis XIV style mantelpiece possesses a monumental appearance, characterized by its dark grey base and contrasting light veining. The profiled mantle shelf follows the gently curved line of the frieze, which features a finely carved shell cartouche at its center. The jambs are detailed with crisp fluting and topped with profiled consoles. The marble of this antique fireplace exhibits a natural patina and a polished finish. with its generous proportions and powerful, minimalist lines, the fireplace appears larger than its actual dimensions suggest. This robust character is emphasized by the 5 cm thick mantle shelf and a 10 cm thick front. There is a restoration at the base of the left jamb.
